benefits and drawbacks of choosing to forgive and forget
In my experience it's hard to forgive when wronged by a loved one. But some benefits I got from forgiving is peace of mind and heart. Some drawbacks I had from forgiving is repetition of hurt which then turn to a benefit because now I learned a new skill: "loving from a distance"

My Benefits
Benefits of forgiving and forgetting is knowing that you are doing this for yourself and not someone else. I feel like you get better results when you know it’s for the betterment of yourself. Also, forgiveness helps you move forward in not just that relationship but different relationships in your life. The drawbacks sometimes could be that you don’t want to forgive or forget. The hurt is sometimes so significant that you don’t want to give someone the satisfaction of getting forgiveness. Understanding how someone makes you feel can also be a form of healing and forgiveness too.

Abandoned Faith
I grew up in the church and I abandoned my faith a lot of time because why do I have to be nice when someone is being mean to me? Why can't I drink away my problems? Why can't I pleasure myself in the comfort of my own home? I go to church frequently and it was the Lord himself who convicted my heart and I felt guilty of these things and not apologize for doing things he expressed displeases him. I have kids now and it breaks my heart to see my kids do things I expressed I don't like.

I've experienced God and it built my faith in him. I wanted to see how true fasting a praying was and can I receive "power" from doing such acts. I was walking around the house praying because hubby was a at work and kids were at school and I was a stay at home mom and I had a lot of time. While praying I was repeating the from fasting and praying you will receive power. Come to find out I was saying the scripture wrong and mixing 2 scriptures together. But it's when you receive the gift of the Holy Ghost you will receive power. And at that moment after the Lord Gave me the correct wording. I felt as if I touched anything, something would happened. I didn't want to touch the kids because of how I truly believed the miraculous would happen. Jesus is real.

I've experienced God and it built my faith in him. We were planning to move. We lived in a flood zone, we had solar panels on the house and we didn't see who would want the extra burdens from this home. We were fasting at the time with the church I went to. We didn't eat until after 2pm. I asked my husband to do it with him he said ok. I don't know if he prayed or not but we planned to move by Nov 11 and at the time the house was on the market for a little over a month. A lot of people came and gone. The one day we were in the house someone booked a showing I wasn't aware about. The person we met was the person who bought the house at asking price with no negotiation one week before our desired move out date.
